As a kid in the 60’s I had a toy water rocket set. Two red and blue plastic rockets probably about six inches long, a small red funnel and a yellow combination pump and launcher. The handheld pump was tiny and could barely create enough pressure to send the rockets higher than our house. You placed the rocket’s nozzle on a small rubber washer, slid a clip forward to lock it down, pumped as much as you could then pulled back the clip to simultaneously launch a rocket and drench your arm.
I’ve updated the site to include a closer look at this toy rocket:
Seeing videos now of what people have done with ordinary soda bottles turned into sophisticated rockets inspired me to create my own launcher and rockets. Work began on my launcher in late June 2009. My progress, design ideas, building tips and pictures will be presented here.
